Intended use
The VeloTM Multi-Drugs Rapid Test One-Step Cup is intended for the qualitative detection of multiple drugs of abuse, their metabolites, alcohol, and adulterants in human urine. It is designed for professional in vitro diagnostic use in settings such as clinical labs, workplace testing, and forensic applications.
Principle
The VeloTM Multi-Drug Rapid Test Cup detects drugs of abuse, adulterants, and alcohol in urine through the following principles:
1.Drug Detection (DOA, excluding alcohol):
- The test is based on competitive immunoassay using lateral flow technology.
- As urine migrates by capillary action:
- Negative result: Drug concentration is below the cut-off, allowing antibodies to bind the drug-protein conjugate → colored line appears in the test region.
- Positive result: Drug concentration is above the cut-off, saturating the antibody binding sites → no line appears.
- A control line always appears to confirm valid test performance.
2.Adulteration Detection:
The test detects tampering or dilution by measuring:
- pH (normal: 4.0–9.0): Identifies acidic/alkaline adulterants.
- Specific Gravity (normal: 1.003–1.030): Indicates sample concentration or dilution.
- Creatinine: Low levels or absence (<5 mg/dL) suggest dilution or non-human urine.
- Oxidants/PCC: Detects strong oxidizers like bleach or hydrogen peroxide.
- Nitrites: Indicates chemical adulterants used to mask THC.
- Glutaraldehyde: Identifies enzyme-disrupting adulterants.
- Bleach: Should not be present in normal urine.
3.Alcohol Detection:
- The alcohol test uses a colorimetric enzymatic reaction.
- On contact with alcohol, the reaction pad changes color, based on oxidation by alcohol oxidase, peroxidase, and TMB substrate.
- Color intensity correlates with alcohol concentration.
Storage
Store as packaged in the sealed pouch at 2-30°C. The test is stable through the expiration date printed on the sealed pouch. The Test must remain in the sealed pouch until use. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not use beyond the expiration date.
